This monster 325 pound halibut was caught in Sitka Alaska.  All monster halibut over 120 pounds are females and very valuable to the resource.  This fish was killed, but the angler, John Beath, released eight 50-plus pound halibut that season in an effort to maintain the resource.  This is the only huge trophy John will catch and keep.  The meat from these monster fish is good, but grainy.  Always remember to conserve your catch, but don't be afraid to keep at least one trophy!

This fish measured 7 feet 1 inches long. The tail was 22 1/2 inches wide and the mid section was 48 inches across.

The bait was the head from an 18 to 20 pound coho!
