Chris
Batin of Alaska Angler Publications, & co-author of
"How To Catch Trophy Halibut" teamed up with
Halibut.net owner and outdoor writer, John L. Beath, to
capture the most unbelievable underwater footage of
halibut, rockfish and lingcod. This video took four
years to make using divers, video camera housings,
Remote Control Underwater Vehicles (ROVs) and
sophisticated, high-resolution underwater cameras.
You won't believe your
eyes as halibut react to baits and lures. The video
reveals, up close and personal, what fish actually do in
the depths of their underwater homes.
This video is a must for
anyone who loves fishing!

Halibut
Outlook for 2003
Ocean
conditions this past year have been decent according to
fisheries biologists. That means the ocean provided lots
of feed for our sport fish, which should in turn provide
us with fat, healthy halibut.
Halibut fishing
throughout the West Coast should be top-quality this
spring and summer. However, the most difficult equation
will be deciding where to go fishing. Off the Northern
California Coast anglers will no doubt find decent
numbers of 50-plus pound halibut, if they fish in water
over 200-feet deep. Along the Oregon coast anglers will
again have a dual fishery -- near shore and offshore.
The near shore fishery will provide some great action in
shallower water than the typically deep offshore
fishery. For those going offshore you might want to
think about using a sport electric reel. One of these
reels can be used in either electric or crank mode,
which maintains the sport when you hook a fish. When you
have to reel up your weight from 500 or more feet deep,
you can simply flip a switch and let the electric motor
bring your gear topside. While some anglers would say
these are "not sporting" others, say these
reels are the perfect match for deep halibut fishing.

Washington halibut
fishing should be great this year, especially for
halibut anglers fishing from Neah Bay. Neah Bay offers
the very best halibut fishing in the state and offers
the added bonus of being close enough to British
Columbia waters for halibut fishermen to cross the
border by boat and take a two fish limit. And this year
crossing the border in British Columbia will be easier
since DFO started selling their fishing licenses on
line. Read the press release by clicking here...

| Alaska
again will provide the most consistent halibut fishery
on the west coast. Year in and year out Alaska proves to
be the halibut capital of the world. It really doesn't
matter where you choose to go in Alaska, from Southeast
to South Central to the Aleutian Islands, Alaska halibut
fishing can't be beat when it comes to numbers of fish
and size of fish. If you're looking for a unique halibut
fishery I highly recommend fishing with Kodiak Combos on
Kodiak Island. Native guide, Jeff Peterson is by far the
very best guide I've ever fished with. He operates out
of Old Harbor Alaska, and grew up fishing his home
waters. He knows every inch of his home waters and
proves it with his consistent catches. His trips are
custom and provide the very best flat water fishery for
halibut and king salmon. Read about my trip by clicking

halibut react to your baits and lures or what it looks
like when a 125 halibut inhales a bait, then you'd
better watch this video. The video sells for $25.95 plus
